Pre-Kindergarten & Elementary SchoolThis is a very important time in a child's life, but in most cases it is not a severely challenging time academically speaking. If a child is blessed with a loving home life and free from any abusive distractions at school, then the child should progress at least fairly well academically. Though there are many obvious exceptions to this especially in the field of "special needs," academic tutoring at this stage is generally not recommended. We do; however, see a large number of people who are looking for some very basic tutoring in Math and Reading Skills at the Elementary or even Pre-Kindergarten level in order to either not fall behind or to get ahead. We also recommend that learning an instrument be explored at this crucial point in childhood development.
Math and ReadingMath Tutoring
Usually this consists of reaffirming the number line, addition, subtraction, and some multiplication/division. Depending on the interest of the child/parent, it could be very well beneficial to explore tutoring in Math to far higher levels than the standard curriculum provides. Reading Skills Tutoring It is important to note that tutoring in Reading lends itself directly to tutoring in critical thinking much like math lends itself to problem solving. It is not just about being able to read a sentence, or a paragraph, or even to read the fastest. The crucial area of importance here is whether or not the student retained the information that he/she read. |
